Plants are History
Cultivating a Living Legacy

Luxury Botanical Design Studio
At Plants are History, we create living spaces that are as meaningful as they are beautiful. Guided by the principles of biophilic design, we thoughtfully pair exceptional plants with handcrafted pottery and timeless design to transform homes, offices, and commercial spaces into environments that promote wellness, productivity, and connection to nature. Every project is uniquely curated to complement your architecture, lifestyle, and the story your space is meant to tell.

Discover Our Vision
Our Philosophy
At Plants Are History, we believe every plant carries a story. Long before a specimen enters a home, office, or garden, it has traveled through ecosystems, cultures, and generations of human stewardship. Plants have shaped civilizations, inspired exploration, provided nourishment, and connected people to the natural world for thousands of years. We believe those stories deserve to be preserved, celebrated, and shared.
Rooted in Rio Vista—a historic river town founded in 1857 on the Sacramento River Delta—our botanical design studio is inspired by the idea that history is not confined to books, buildings, or artifacts. It is alive all around us. Just as Rio Vista's story has been shaped by generations of people, commerce, agriculture, and connection to the land, every plant carries a history of its own. We approach plants not as inventory, but as living pieces of a larger narrative. Each specimen is thoughtfully selected for its character, beauty, and significance, then placed with intention to create spaces that feel both timeless and alive. Through botanical design, we seek to reconnect people with the stories embedded in the natural world and the profound relationship between plants and human history. Whenever possible, every specimen leaves our studio with provenance—a record of what it is and where it came from. Understanding a plant's origin enriches the experience of living with it. The plant you bring home is part of a story that began long before us and will continue long after.
Legacy
Biophilia
We honor the cultural, ecological, and historical significance of plants, preserving their stories alongside their beauty.
Preservation
Stewardship matters. Through education, care, and responsible cultivation, we help ensure plants continue to thrive for future generations.
Humans are inherently drawn to nature. Through botanical design, we create healthier, more beautiful environments that strengthen the connection between people and plants. Plants are more than decoration. They are living history, shaped by time and carried forward through care. Our role is to tell those stories through design, creating spaces where beauty, meaning, and legacy can take root.
Craftsmanship
Exceptional spaces are created through thoughtful design. Every installation, arrangement, and statement piece is curated with purpose and intention.
